Jason Sudeikis to Lead 'Angry Birds' Voice Cast as Red

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a number well-known actors and actresses to voice the video game characters in movie.

AceShowbiz - "Angry Birds" the film will be backed up by a list of impressive voice cast. Jason Sudeikis will play the lead role of the ill-tempered bird Red, supported by Josh Gad as the yellow-feathered Chuck and Danny McBride as the big bird Bomb.

Sony Pictures Entertainment also announced that Bill Hader will voice one of the "evil" pigs. Maya Rudolph signed up for a character named Matilda while Peter Dinklage will step in the role of the Mighty Eagle. Other voice cast members include Kate McKinnon, Romeo Santos, Tony Hale, Cristela Alonzo, Jillian Bell, Ike Barinholtz, Danielle Brooks, Hannibal Buress, Keegan-Michael Key, Ian Andrew Hecox and Anthony Padilla.

"I'm extremely proud of this cast," said producer John Cohen. "Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they're surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent - these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we're thrilled to have them all on board."

Since this is a movie originated from a video game, the cast was first unveiled to users of the app. "With two and a half billion gamers around the world, Angry Birds is one of those brands that can drive massive fan engagement," said Dwight Caines, president, theatrical marketing for Sony Pictures. "That's why we wanted to bring this unlock to the fans first. Our filmmakers are cooking up a hilarious movie, and we know these fans can't wait to see how they're going to bring the Angry Birds' story to life on the big screen of movie theaters."

The pic will be released on July 1, 2016 in the United States.
