'America's Got Talent' Crowns Season 9 Winner After Tight Race

AcroArmy, Emily West and Mat Franco were the top contenders to win the $1 million prize and a contract to headline a Las Vegas show.

AceShowbiz - And the winner is ... Mat Franco. The magician was named a champion of "America's Got Talent" season 9 in the finale airing on Wednesday, September 17 on NBC. He defeated the other five finalists, including fan-favorites AcroArmy and Emily West.

Emily is the runner-up, while AcroArmy which earned rave reviews from the judges for their performances on Tuesday night is the second runner-up. Sons of Serendip finished in 4th place, Quintavious Johnson in the 5th place and Miguel Dakota in the 6th place.

Earlier that night, Pitbull kicked off the show with a performance of "Fireball". There were also some duets, with Sons of Serendip teaming up with Train for a rendition of "Drops of Jupiter", AcroArmy performing while Blink-182's drummer Travis Barker playing along with Lorde's "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" cover, and Miguel Dakota singing with Lenny Kravitz.

Mat performed a magic trick joined by judge Howard Stern and "The View" co-host Rosie O'Donnell, Quintavious performed "And I'm Telling You" with Jennifer Hudson, and Emily covered "True Colors" with Cyndi Lauper. Ed Sheeran also took the stage to cater the audience with his new hit single "Don't".

Mat took home the $1 million prize and got a contract to headline a Las Vegas show. He's the first magician to win the competition.
