AceShowbiz - Katie Couric is mourning the death of her mother. Elinor H. Couric passed away at the age of 91 on Thursday, September 4. The former "Today" show host then took to Twitter to share the sad news to her one million followers.
"My heart is broken. I lost my mom and best friend. We love you and miss you, Mom/Granny," she captioned a black-and-white photo of her mother. "She loved fiercely and was fiercely loved," she added on Facebook.
"Sorry for your loss Katie...may she rest in peace," a Facebook user wrote after learning of the news. "Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family," a fan on Twitter added.
In another Twitter post, the TV journalist offered condolences to Joan Rivers' family following the comedian's passing on Thursday. "So sorry to hear the news about Joan Rivers. She was one of a kind. My heart goes out to Melissa and Cooper," she wrote. Rivers passed away at the age of 81 after being treated in Mount Sinai hospital.
