The controversial singer, whose upcoming concert at the country has been banned by the CNEPR, files papers in a Dominican court to have the ban removed.

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus is trying to have her upcoming concert in Dominican Republic go on as planned. The controversial singer is scheduled to play a show there on September 13, but the country's national entertainment and radio commission (CNEPR) announced last month that they'd decided to ban the gig on morality grounds.

Now, a source tells E! News that Cyrus wants to have the ban removed by having her tour promoter file papers in a Dominican court. In the papers, she argues that the council's ban on artistic expression goes against the nation's constitution.

"Miley wants to defend artistic expression for all artists," the source explains.

Cyrus' concert in the Dominican Republic is a part of her ongoing "Bangerz" tour, which was launched to support her 2013 album of the same title. A few weeks ago, the CNEPR said they tried to cancel the star's show because she often "undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law."

A poll done by local Dominican outlet Hoy showed that 64|percent| of participants agreed with the ban, while the rest opposed it, saying it violated freedom of expression.
