Sodergbergh lets fans know that the sequel to 'Magic Mike' already began shooting on Sunday, August 31 for an aerial shot.

AceShowbiz - "Magic Mike XXL" is officially on the move. Steven Soderbergh gave an update on the production on Sunday, August 31, tweeting an image of the movie's clapperboard and wrote, "It's ON!"

Soderbergh is not directing the male stripper flick but hands the duty to his first assistant director on "Side Effects", Gregory Jacobs. Soderbergh is still heavily involved in the film as the director of photography, camera operator and film editor. "I want to be there, but I don't want to be the director," Soderbergh told GQ in June. "I want to be a part of it. I want to be in the band, but I just don't want to be the frontman this time."

Channing Tatum pens the script with Reid Carolin, the writer of the first film. The plot is still unknown but Tatum told MTV, "This one will be a road trip movie. Without giving a lot away, we don't wanna make it a really serious, slice-of-life movie. We want to have reality in it, but we don't want to make it some dark drama."

Meanwhile, Taye Diggs has been teasing the movie's fans of a possible cameo. He told the Wetpaint, "I have no idea. You're just going to have to wait and see what happens," he said. "You know how these things are. It would be fun. I'm a big, big fan of Channing Tatum's, and I love to dance, so we shall see." All of the original cast members except Matthew McConaughey reportedly are back in the sequel.

"Magic Mike XXL" will be released on Independence Day weekend two days early on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. According to the Savannah, GA Film Office, the film will be shot in the city later this month.
