Hewitt's Agent Kate Callahan gets in action and wants to do the honor to arrest the bad guy as Hotch thinks she's going to be a valuable asset.

AceShowbiz - "Criminal Minds" will begin its tenth season with a new face on the team. As revealed last July, Jennifer Love Hewitt is cast as a new series regular on the show and they waste no time to introduce the new addition.

A preview for the season opener sees Agent Hotchner dubbing Hewitt's Kate Callahan "a valuable asset" for the team and Kate comparing herself to a boy scout. She gets in action and wants to do the honor to arrest the bad guy when they catch him.

Titled "X", the first episode of season 10 finds the BAU team investigating a series of murders in Bakersfield, Calif., which have left the victims unidentifiable as the killer apparently dismembered them. Also, the team welcomes new agent Kate Callahan into the BAU fold, who assists them in their efforts in solving the cases.

Kate was previously described as a "seasoned undercover agent whose stellar work at the FBI has landed her a coveted position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit."

"Criminal Minds" returns Wednesday, October 1 at 9 P.M. on CBS. The show plans a tribute to Meshach Taylor, who died of cancer in June, in an upcoming episode of season 10. The late actor first appeared in season 8 as Harrison Scott, Rossi's former Marine sergeant. He later returned in a season 9 episode.

Star Joe Mantegna will direct the episode that brings a closure to Scott's storyline. Executive producer Erica Messer has said, "Joe felt he would really like to finish that story that we started. It's a huge deal for Joe because he and Meshach were friends for over 40 years, but also for Meshach's career because the last acting thing he did was work with one of his best friends. Joe really wanted to honor the friendship and Meshach's professional life and bring closure to the story. We're going to do that almost midway through the season. It'll be really touching."
