On behalf of the Danish director, producer Louise Vesth announced the project during the press conference at the Venice Film Festival.

AceShowbiz - "Nymphomaniac" director Lars von Trier appeared via computer screen at Venice Film Festival on Monday, September 1 morning to announce that he's working on an English-speaking TV series. It will mark the Danish director's first return to television in 20 years.

The press conference was to promote the Director's Cut of "Nymphomaniac" Part I and Part II. Towards the end of the session, producer Louise Vesth said per Deadline, "Now, when he's not able to speak, so he cannot say that it's not true, I'm happy to announce that the next Lars von Trier project will be a TV series in the English language. He has a really really good idea which I cannot tell more about right now. He wants a huge cast and from what I heard I'm sure that it will be something that you have never seen before and you will definitely never see it again."

Titled "The House That Jack Built", it is poised as a high-end drama series with huge international cast. Plot details are kept a secret but it would be "without precedent." Von Trier will start working on the script this fall and shooting is to begin in 2016. DR, a Danish public broadcaster behind "The Killing" and "The Bridge", is developing the series together with von Trier. Vesth will produce for von Trier's Danish production company Zentropa together with executive producer and Zentropa partner Peter Aalbaek Jensen.
