The comic book legend told fans that he was confident the character would eventually get her own movie.

AceShowbiz - While fans are itching on whether Marvel will eventually make a movie out of Black Widow or not, Stan Lee has the answer. While speaking at Fan Expo Canada on Friday, August 29, the comic book legend said he was optimistic that the female superhero would get a stand-alone movie someday.

"We haven't made a Black Widow movie but she's been in some of our movies, and she will be featured more prominently as we move forward," Lee said as quoted by ComicBookResources. "And the chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and the Black Panther and there are others I am not allowed to talk about."

The idea of giving the character, played by Scarlett Johansson in "The Avengers", her own movie has been on for some time. Back in 2010, Marvel studio president Kevin Feige said, "We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but 'The Avengers' comes first." The aforementioned movie was out but still there was no date set for a Black Widow movie.

Earlier this year, Feige once again assured fans that a Black Widow project was looming and that she would get big part in the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron". He said, "We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that."

"Black Widow" is not yet mentioned as part of the studio's third phase which already includes "Ant-Man", "Dr. Strange" and the third installments of "The Avengers" and "Captain America".
