Although the reports turn out to be false, the British singer hints he will record a song for the next film if he's asked to.

AceShowbiz - Sam Smith is not following in fellow British singer Adele's footsteps after all. In a new interview with NME, the "Stay With Me" hitmaker denied recent rumors suggesting he would record the theme song of the next "James Bond" movie.

"No, I have no idea what that was about and I know as much as you do. You probably know more than me; I didn't even read the article," he said, referring to a story by The Sun which claimed he'd been negotiating with MGM's bosses to provide the theme.

Smith, however, thought recording a track for Bond wasn't a bad idea at all. "I think it's something everyone would love to do," he explained. "But yeah, it was all news to me. I won't say any more on it."

He went on to reveal which theme of "James Bond" was his favorite. "My favorite Bond theme was Jack White and Alicia Keys," he said. "I love that; I thought it was amazing. Her voice and his voice together, I thought, was really interesting."

The new "James Bond" film is scheduled to be released on November 6, 2015 in the U.S. Adele performed the theme song for the previous film, 2012's "Skyfall".
