According to Liam Payne, all members of the group also write 'almost every song' for the follow-up to last year's 'Midnight Memories'.

AceShowbiz - One Direction is taking their next album in a slightly different direction. Sitting down for an interview in a recent episode of "Today", the British/Irish boyband revealed what to expect from the new record and how it would be different from their previous LPs.

"I think it's going to be a little bit more edgy," member Niall Horan told hostCarson Daly of the group's new music. "But obviously we feel like we've got some really good songs and we are happy."

Despite their packed schedule, the five boys are heavily involved in the making of their new full-length. "We've all taken a hand in the writing this time and we've literally written almost every song," Liam Payne said.

The album, currently untitled, will come as the follow-up to "Midnight Memories" which landed at No. 1 on Billboard 200 following its release late last year.

To support their latest set, which includes hits like "Best Song Ever", "Story of My Life" and "You & I", One Direction launched their "Where We Are" tour earlier this year. The tour, which the group is currently bringing across North American cities, is scheduled to wrap up in October in Miami.
