The third season finale of 'Switched at Birth' airs Monday, August 18, while the April 1 outing of 'Twisted' now becomes the last for the show.

AceShowbiz - ABC Family has given another year to live for "Switched at Birth". The network has officially announced that it picked up a fourth season of its hit original drama series, ahead of the season 3 finale set to air Monday, August 18 at 8 P.M. ET/PT.

"Fans will be clamoring for season four and to know what happens with Daphne and Bay after the season three finale next week," Tom Ascheim, President ABC Family, said in a press release announcing the renewal for the Peabody Award-winning series.

Show creator and executive producer Lizzy tweeted after learning of the good news, "Season 4 of #SwitchedatBirth is HAPPENING!!! Thank you to @ABCFsab for the best birthday present ever, and to the fans, for your support."

"Twisted", meanwhile, received the bad news that it had been canceled. A spokesperson from the cable channel confirmed it, telling TheWrap, "We are not moving forward with additional episodes."

"Switched at Birth" currently ranks as cable TV's #1 series in its time period in key female demos. "Twisted", on the other hand, has been struggling in ratings with the season finale, which is now the last episode of the show, only drawing 800,000 viewers despite the strong lead-in from "Pretty Little Liars".
