It has been revealed that the legendary actor cut his left wrist with a pocket knife and hanged himself with a belt before his assistant found him dead.

AceShowbiz - It's revealed that Robin Williams, who was found dead on Monday, August 11 in his home in San Fransisco, cut his wrist before hanging himself with a belt. Marin County Sheriff's Lieutenant Keith Boyd revealed that they discovered several cuts on Robin's left wrist and a pocket knife with a dried red substance at the scene.

Keith said, "Mr. Williams' personal assistant was able to gain access to Mr. Williams' bedroom and entered the bedroom to find Mr. Williams clothed in a seated position, unresponsive, with a belt secured around his neck with the other end of the [belt] wedged between the... closet door and the door frame. His right shoulder area was touching the door with his body perpendicular to the door and slightly suspended."

He claimed, "The work of the coroner's office is not complete at this time." Robin's final cause of death would be known in several weeks after toxicology tests are completed. Keith added, "The forensic examination conducted by Dr. Joseph Cohen did not [indicate]... that Mr. Williams had been in a struggle prior to him being diseased."

According to the Marin County Sheriff's Department, Robin was last seen alive around 10 P.M. on Sunday by his wife Susan Schneider. She didn't know about his later condition because they slept in different bedrooms. In the next morning around 10:30 A.M., Susan left their home to run errands, thinking that her husband was still asleep. Robin's assistant became worried and found Robin in the bedroom around 11:45 A.M. At that time, rigor mortis had already set in.

In previous news, Robin's rep Mara Buxbaum said in a statement that Robin "has been battling severe depression of late." Robin had struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction before his death. Back in June, he entered Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Minnesota to "fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud."

Robin passed away at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife and three children.
