The Grammy-winning singer joins the cast of the FX series as Gabourey Sidibe's on-screen mother.

AceShowbiz - Patti LaBelle is the latest attraction added to "American Horror Story: Freak Show". The veteran singer has signed up to appear in four episodes of the fourth installment of the horror anthology series as the mother of Gabourey Sidibe's character.

An insider tells TVLine that LaBelle's alter ego "is a local townsperson who begins to unravel the murderous secrets of Twisty the clown killer." The Grammy-winning singer, however, reportedly won't sing on the show.

Series creator Ryan Murphy has not said anything regarding LaBelle's involvement. He last updated his Twitter with announcement of Finn Wittrock's casting. Details about the "All My Children" alum's role are not available yet.

Set in Florida in 1950, "Freak Show" centers on Jessica Lange's Elsa Mars, a German ex-pat who is managing the freak show. Also among the cast are Sarah Paulson as conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler, John Carroll Lynch as one of the core villains, Michael Chiklis as Wendell Del Toredo who is dubbed a strongman, Angela Bassett as his wife Desiree Dupree, Kathy Bates as Ethel Darling who is Wendell's ex-wife, and Evan Peters as Ethel's son. Emma Roberts, meanwhile, plays a character named Maggie.

The new season of "American Horror Story" will premiere this October on FX.
