Steve Martin also takes to Twitter to mourn the death of the Oscar-winning actor, calling him a 'mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul.'

AceShowbiz - Hollywood stars are mourning the death of beloved actor Robin Williams who passed away on Monday, August 11 at the age of 63. Numerous celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to the Oscar-winning actor who is remembered for his roles in "Mrs. Doubtfire", "Good Will Hunting" and "Night at the Museum" among others.

President Obama led the tribute in a statement. Calling Williams "one of a kind," he added, "He arrived in our lives as an alien - but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most - from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets. The Obama family offers our condolences to Robin's family, his friends, and everyone who found their voice and their verse thanks to Robin Williams."

"I can't believe the news about Robin Williams. He gave so much to so many people. I'm heartbroken," Ellen DeGeneres said in a Twitter post. Fellow comedian Steve Martin wrote, "I could not be more stunned by the loss of Robin Williams, mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul."

Miley Cyrus, meanwhile, shared, "I've never cried over someone I've never met but I can't stop" after learning of the sad news. Lindsay Lohan also remembered Williams in a tweet. "Mr. Williams visited me the first day of filming The Parent Trap. I will never forget his kindness. What an enormous loss. My condolences," she wrote.

Ben Stiller, Williams' co-star in "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb", wrote, "A tweet cannot begin to describe the hugeness of Robin Williams heart and soul and talent. This is so sad." The third installment of the adventure-comedy movie is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on December 19.

"Robin was a lightning storm of comic genius and our laughter was the thunder that sustained him. He was a pal and I can't believe he's gone," said Steven Spielberg who worked with Williams in "Hook", as quoted by EW. "Mrs. Doubtfire" director Chris Columbus additionally called the late actor "one of our most inspired and gifted comic minds, as well as one of this generation's greatest actors."

Williams was found unconscious at his home in Tiburon, California and was pronounced dead at 12:02 P.M. on Monday. Marin County Sheriff's Department said that investigators suspected "the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia." Williams' representative Mara Buxbaum said that the actor had been battling depression prior to his passing.
