The Coldplay frontman says he's been working on new material for RiRi although he doesn't know whether or not his work will make the cut to her next album.

AceShowbiz - Chris Martin has expressed desire to work with Rihanna again for her next album. The Coldplay frontman said in a recent radio interview that he'd been spending time in the studio composing new music for the Bajan beauty.

"I wasn't necessarily with [Rihanna in the studio], I was working for her," Gwyneth Paltrow's estranged husband told New York's Fresh 102.7 FM radio. "I don't think she even asked, I just said, 'please can I try something?' "

It's still unclear if Martin's work will make the cut to RiRi's new album. "She has so many amazing people writing for her," the 37-year-old British musician explained. "It's like trying to win 'American Idol', getting a song on Rihanna's album. It's hard. Everybody wants to write songs for her."

Martin previously collaborated with Rihanna for "Princess of China" off Coldplay's 2011's "Mylo Xyloto" album. During the radio interview, he also said his band already planned a follow-up to "Ghost Stories" which hit the stores in May.

"We knew we wanted to make this thing called 'Ghost Stories', and then make something else," he said. "We have just an idea and then we're gonna go on tour after that."
