AceShowbiz - Steven Seagal has played a concert in the Crimean peninsula. According to a new report from Russian news RIA Novosti, the actor performed some songs with his blues band over the weekend at an event organized by Russia's Night Wolves biker group in the city of Sevastopol, home to Russia's Black Sea fleet.
Seagal and his band appeared on a stage decorated with the black, blue and red flags of Ukrainian rebel group the Donestk People's Republic. People in the crowd waved DNR and Russian flags as the star sang and played the guitar onstage. He also reportedly received a shirt with Putin's face on it and put in on during the concert.
Seagal, who openly supports Russia's president Vladimir Putin, recently came under fire for supporting Russia's March annexation of the peninsula from Ukraine. In an interview last March, he was quoted as saying that Putin's desire to protect Russians in Crimea was completely reasonable. He was dropped from the line-up of a blues festival in Estonia because of his controversial views.
The U.S and EU have imposed sanctions on Russia over its annexation of Crimea and for allegedly providing weapons to anti-government rebels in eastern Ukraine. Fears have been growing in recent days that Russia may send troops into eastern Ukraine where the Ukrainian army is leading an offensive against rebels in and around the city of Donetsk.
