The 'X-Men' actor and '30 Rock' alum joins the growing cast of the dark drama pilot adapted from Michael Crichton's 1973 film.

AceShowbiz - "Westworld" cast continues expanding with another addition. James Marsden is the latest to join the HBO dark drama pilot which is executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk.

The 40-year-old actor, who played Scott Summers/Cyclops in the first three installments of the "X-Men" film franchise, will play Teddy Flood, "a mysterious new arrival to a small frontier town. Teddy quickly proves both his charm-and his talent with a revolver. His pursuit of a local beauty launches him on a dark odyssey."

Besides Marsden, Eddie Rouse ("Being Flynn"), Demetrius Grosse ("Justified"), Kyle Bornheimer ("She's Out of My League"), Currie Graham ("Murder in the First"), Lena Georgas ("Prime Suspect"), Steven Ogg ("Grand Theft Auto V") and Timothy Lee DePriest have also landed roles in the pilot.

They all join the already impressive cast line-up which includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman.

"Westworld" is inspired by Michael Crichton's 1973 sci-fi western-thriller film of the same title which is set in a futuristic theme park populated with robot characters. The TV remake is described as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin." Jonathan Nolan co-wrote the pilot and is on board as director as well.

Marsden recently starred in "Lee Daniels' The Butler" and "Anchorman: The Legend Continues", and made a cameo appearance as Scott Summers/Cyclops in "X-Men: Days of Future Past". He will next grace big screen with "The Best of Me", an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' novel. On small screen, he appeared in recurring basis on "30 Rock" as Criss Chros, who is Liz Lemon's (Tina Fey) love interest and eventual husband.
