Marilyn Monroe Miniseries in the Works on Lifetime

'Marilyn' will explore her complicated relationships with her mother, foster mother and legal guardian among others.

AceShowbiz - Lifetime is high on exploring the lives of biggest names in pop culture. The cabler is developing a new miniseries centered around Marilyn Monroe, tentatively titled "Marilyn".

Based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's book "The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe", it is adapted into series by Stephen Kronish. The scribe is known as the writer and producer of Reelz Channel's "The Kennedys" and FOX's "24".

Asylum Entertainment, which produced "The Kennedys", is financing the movie with Kronish, Jonathan Koch, Steven Michaels and Keri Selig as executive producers. "Sherrybaby" director Laurie Collyer is touted to direct the miniseries.

The 2010 book is known to recount details about Monroe's complicated relationships with her mentally-ill mother, her foster mother, and legal guardian. The book also explored her struggle with her own mental illness and her ties to the Kennedy family.

Lifetime is already producing projects about Aaliyah, Whitney Houston, Gabrielle Douglas and Elizabeth Taylor.
