Having been active at the festival in the last four years, Franco will be acknowledged for his effort in creating contemporary cinema.

AceShowbiz - James Franco has made himself familiar to the Venice Film Festival. The multi-tasking actor will be handed the annual fest's prestigious Jaeger-Le Coultre Glory to the Filmmaker later this year for his effort in innovating contemporary cinema.
Franco will receive the award before premiering his latest film, "The Sound and the Fury", at the festival as an out of competition on the Lido. Franco stars in the William Faulkner novel adaptation movie alongside Seth Rogen, Jon Hamm, Scott Haze, Tim Blake Nelson, Joey King and Ahna O'Reilly.
"The adaptation of the great classics of American literature, like his new film based on a novel by Faulkner, which will be presented in Venice, is a major thread in his creative approach, characterized by boldness, lucidity, courage and self-confidence," said festival director Alberto Barbera. "These values transform his omnivorous verve into a concept of total art performance, founded on considerable curiosity and intelligence."
Franco first premiered his film "Sal in the Horizons" on the Lido in 2011. The next year he promoted "Spring Breakers" in which he starred alongside Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens among others. In 2013, he was promoting a film based on his own short stories, "Palo Alto", as well as the movie he directed "Child of God".
The festival will run from August 27 to September 6 this year.
