The television personality's younger sister passed away at 59 due to an unexpected brain aneurysm while exercising at home.

AceShowbiz - Martha Stewart's younger sister, Laura Plimpton, died unexpectedly after suffering a brain aneurysm while at home on Tuesday, August 5. The sad news was announced in an email sent to staff at Stewart's lifestyle company where the mother of three had worked for more than 25 years.

"My youngest sister, and the youngest of the six Kostyra siblings, Laura Kostyra Plimpton, passed away today in Norwalk Hospital," Stewart wrote in her email to staff obtained by the Daily Mail, "she was an extraordinary employee, mother, wife and sister."

The fashion and home-decoration guru added that her sister's organs had been donated. She wrote, "We are so sad but also happy that Laura had the foresight to donate so many healthy organs to needy people."

Stewart explained that her sister, who wrote scripts for "Ask Martha" radio spots in the past, had started to feel sick after finishing her workout on Monday morning. She was rushed to the hospital for an immediate care after she managed to call for help from her husband Randy. Plimpton was found to have suffered a brain aneurysm.

Back in 2004, Plimpton appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" where she gushed about her "very special relationship" with her older sister. "All I wanted to do was be around her, her husband, and then when Alexis was born, I just wanted to take care of Alexis. I would pack my little suitcase and go every weekend, practically, just to be with Martha," Plimpton told Larry King.

Plimpton began working for her sister's company after her first husband died at the age 33 from a rare form of lymphoma. Stewart helped Plimpton find a house and offered her a job to help get her back on her feet.
