AceShowbiz - Katie Holmes could've starred on "Orange Is the New Black". Series creator Jenji Kohan has just revealed that she offered the lead role of Piper Chapman to the Rachel Dawes of "Batman Begins" , but the actress passed on it.

"I'm a big fan of hers," Kohan told E! News when met at "OITNB" event at the DGA in West Hollywood. "You know, I met with her." She added, "She had other things to do. And also in the beginning, no one knew what this was."

The role eventually went to Taylor Schilling, who has earned a nomination at the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards for her performance on the comedy series. Schilling shared her idea what role Holmes should play if she snags a guest spot on the show. "She could be friends with Lorna or like Lorna's Boston sister," the Piper depicter said.

Kate Mulgrew, who plays Red on the show, chimed in about Holmes, "She better watch herself. Pretty girls have to watch out in that prison."

Holmes rose to fame after playing Joey Potter on teen drama "Dawson's Creek".
