Comic-Con: Revived 'Community' May Arrive as Soon as 2015

Writer Chris McKenna says it will be tough to do Halloween and Christmas episodes since they will only start writing in the fall.

AceShowbiz - Despite Yahoo! Screen's plan to debut the new season of "Community" this fall, the revived comedy may not return as soon as expected. During the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and executive producers seemed to be unsure when the sixth season would premiere.

"I don't think it's going to be in time," writer Chris McKenna said when asked about the possibility of doing Halloween and Christmas episodes. Showrunner and series creator Dan Harmon noted that writing would only begin in the fall, so the new season would arrive "probably sometime after Christmas."

Saying that the show would stick to it's 22-minute format, Harmon and executive producer Chris McKenna added that the show would roll out a new episode weekly. "My philosophy is: Attempt to make the same show, and let the lack of boundaries kind of make themselves felt, instead of just going, 'We can make the episode 49 minutes long, and say the f-word the whole time,' " Harmon explained.

Asked whether Jeff would choose Britta or Annie, actor Joel McHale jokingly suggested Dean Pelton. Harmon, meanwhile, reminded that the sitcom's "not necessarily just a workplace comedy... [but] centering the show on a relationship, to me, would be the beginning of the end."

On who should fill in the shoes of Chevy Chase's angry old man role, McHale quipped, "It's Benedict Cumberbatch." As for the possibility of John Oliver returning to the show, Harmon said, "It's contractually possible for John Oliver to come back. We're not gonna tear him away from his amazing HBO show," with McHale adding, "He does it once a week!"

Harmon also didn't rule the possibility of bringing back Donald Glover's Troy Barnes despite the actor's exit last season, saying, "Troy's out there somewhere - he may be in peril... that's what movies are made of."

Yahoo ordered 13 new episodes of "Community" season 6 in late June after NBC canceled the cult comedy series in May.
