Movie

Sony Pictures wants to introduce the villains first before giving another adventure of the web-slinging hero.

AceShowbiz - Fans of "The Amazing Spider-Man" will have to wait two years longer for its third installment. Sony's Columbia Pictures announced on Wednesday, July 23 that "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is pushed back from its 2016 date to an undetermined date in 2018.

In order to fill in the gap, Sony will release "Spider-Man" spin-off "The Sinister Six" on November 11, 2016. The studio is hoping that the movie will broaden the Spider-Man universe by introducing new villains and eventually make Sony a stronger competitor to Marvel/Disney's "The Avengers" franchise and Warner Bros.' upcoming "Justice League" installments.

Meanwhile, there is no new date yet for "The Amazing Spider-Man 4" which was previously set for May 4, 2018. Another spin-off "Venom (2017)" is also yet to get a release date. Sony has slated "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune", an action film based on the PlayStation video game, on June 10, 2016, which was the date previously held by "The Amazing Spider-Man 3".
