Jason Biggs Apologizes for His Malaysian Airlines Joke: 'I Was Stupid'
Celebrity

The 36-year-old actor revisited the issue on 'The View' to convince everyone that he 'meant no harm' by posting the ill-advised joke about the tragedy.

AceShowbiz - Jason Biggs issued another apology for the Malaysia Airlines joke he made shortly after flight MH17 crashed in Ukraine. During his appearance as "The View" co-host on Monday, July 21, the actor brought up the issue once more to express his sincere regrets and apology, saying that he "was stupid."

"There was one line, an old adage," Biggs said, " 'Never attribute to malice that which is explained by stupidity.' I certainly meant no harm- there was no malice, but I was stupid. It was offensive. It was poorly timed. I've always tried to find the humor in situation... it's a knee-jerk reaction for me, it's how I cope but this is not the time...."

Biggs incited controversy on Thursday, July 17, when he posted an insensitive joke about Malaysia airlines shortly after the civilian plane was shot down over the Ukraine. He tweeted, "Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?" Biggs initially defended himself when followers slammed him although he later deleted his tweets and apologized for his offending remarks.

The "Orange Is the New Black" star also admitted that he had no idea about the magnitude of the tragedy at the time he posted the controversial tweet. He said, "I also wasn't aware of the extent and the magnitude of what had happened. It was very quick, I didn't think and I wasn't aware of what was happening and what was transpiring and the extent of just how horrible this tragedy was."

The actor continued, "I have nothing but sympathy for the victims and their families, but I've learned a lot from here and I'd like to move on from it."
