In addition to talking about his recent fight with U.K. tabloid Daily Mail in a new interview, the 'Gravity' actor says of his engagement to Amal Alamuddin, 'I'm marrying up.'

AceShowbiz - George Clooney opened up about his recent fight with a U.K. tabloid in an interview with Variety. In the interview, Clooney said that it was fun to give the "bad guys" some lessons. "It's just fun to slap those bad guys every once in a while, knock 'em around," he shared.

The "Gravity" actor's battle against Daily Mail and its website MailOnline started after they made a false report that his fiancee Amal Alamuddin's mother was against their wedding due to religious grounds. Clooney then fired back against the claims in two pieces published on USA Today.

Speaking of rumors surrounding him, Clooney said, "You just laugh, and let it go. I'm used to it after all these years. But the thing that bothers me is how much the Daily Mail is now bleeding into American press and becoming a source for some pretty legitimate newspapers. So that's the thing that worries me."

According to the actor, false info has been spread by tabloids but he has to choose which to fight. "That's why you pick your fights at a tabloid. Every day they write things that aren't true, but every once in a while they write something that is actually dangerous to your family, and it's probably not true. And that's the one you pick," he shared.

In the phone interview which took place on Friday, July 18, the star of "The Monuments Men" also mentioned his engagement to the British lawyer. "I'm marrying up," he quipped.
