A representative for the Susan Storm depicter sets the record straight on her alleged statement that the superhero remake will not be based on any of the comic books.

AceShowbiz - Was Kate Mara misquoted when she told Esquire Latin America that "The Fantastic Four" reboot would not be based on any of the comic books? Her representative said so when Entertainment Weekly asked for comment about her bold statement which caused a buzz among fanboys.

Mara was reported saying, "I've never been a fan of comics, I've never actually read one. I was going to for this movie but the director said it wasn't necessary. Well, actually he told us that we shouldn't do it because the plot won't be based on any history of anything already published. So I chose to follow his instructions. The one fact is I am a fan of comic book movies, so it's very exciting to be part of a movie like this."

However, her rep insisted it's not what she meant. According to her camp, the actress who is set to play Susan Storm or the Invisible Woman actually discussed that the superhero redo would be drawn from the entire canon, rather than just being based on one comic.

The film is due on June 19, 2015 in the U.S., followed by "The Fantastic Four 2" on July 14, 2017. Miles Teller is cast as Reed Richards or the rubber man, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm or The Thing, Michael B. Jordan as Sue's brother Johnny Storm or Human Torch, and Reg E. Cathey as their father Dr. Storm. Meanwhile, Toby Kebbell will portray the villainous Doctor Doom.
