Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan Tapped to Create Crossover Universe for Universal's Monsters
Movie

Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature of the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and The Mummy will cross paths in the new movie.

AceShowbiz - A crossover universe is being created at Universal for a new franchise. The studio taps Alex Kurtzman to head the project along with fellow scribe Chris Morgan ("Fast and Furious" movies). According to Deadline, they are tasked with unifying monsters from the studio's classic movies.

Iconic characters like Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature of the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and The Mummy are expected to be brought together in this crossover movie. The first step will be getting "The Mummy" reboot off the ground.

The remake has been in development hell for a long time. Len Wiseman ("Total Recall") was originally attached to serve behind the lens before Andy Muschetti ("Mama") stepped in when Wiseman departed, but due to creative differences, the latter eventually left as well.

When Wiseman was still attached to the long-delayed flick, it was envisioned to be a darker, scarier take on the "Mummy" mythology. Muschetti reportedly wanted to take that direction, but Universal was keen to make it more family-friendly action adventure.

In the early development, Kurtzman served as a producer along with his longtime writing partner Roberto Orci. Together they wrote blockbuster franchises like "Transformers", "Star Trek", and "The Amazing Spider-Man", but they now have parted ways as a team to pursue their individual interests.
