Sony will produce the band's first two albums and they will produce four more if the group does well commercially.

AceShowbiz - A heavy metal band called Unlocking the Truth, which is made up of three eight graders from Brooklyn, has signed a record deal with Sony. The record label has agreed to produce the group's first two albums and they could produce four more if the trio does well commercially. Should Sony make all the six albums, the boys could earn up to $1.7 million.

Unlocking the Truth is comprised of guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse (13), bassist Alec Atkins (13) and drummer Jarad Dawkins (12). They shot to Internet fame after a video showing them busking around Times Square went viral. Since then, the band has opened for Guns N' Roses and played Coachella.

"I'm so excited! We've made it!" Dawkins told The New York Post of being signed by Sony. His mother Tabatha Dawkins also voiced her excitement when talking to NY Daily News, saying, "What started out as play dates went to Times Square and now this. It's been one great thing after another."

Despite the seven-figure deal, Mrs. Dawkins insisted that the boys would never leave school. "School work comes first. If their school work is not done, they don't play," she said. The mother revealed that his son's band also had a book deal from Penguin and would film a documentary about their rise.
