Calling the BET Awards 'the Black World Cup', the comedian mocks Sterling's racial controversy as well as Jay-Z and Solange Knowles' infamous elevator fight.

AceShowbiz - Chris Rock poked fun at some headlines in the music world as he hosted the 2014 BET Awards which took place on Sunday, June 29. During his hosting gig, Rock mentioned some famous stories such as Jay-Z and Solange Knowles' infamous elevator fight after the MET Gala in May, the popularity of TV series "Scandal" and racism controversy surrounding Donald Sterling.

Speaking on the stage, the comedian told the audience, "Welcome to the 2014 BET Awards, the black World Cup." He then mocked the L.A. Clippers' owner, saying, "Now let me get this straight: an 83-year-old white man doesn't like black people. Is that news? Come on! A black man couldn't look him in the eye until he was 45. The first black man he ever met, he got for Christmas."

He continued saying that Sterling's words to V. Stiviano during their recorded argument were true in some ways. "Don't make me defend Donald Sterling, [but] what exactly did he say? 'I don't want my woman around black basketball players.' Me neither! Are you kidding me? Who the hell wants their woman around black basketball players?"

Speaking of Jay-Z and his sister-in-law's fight, he said, "Solange hit the right rapper. Jay's a businessman now, he can't just go punching girls in the face; he's got a meeting with Nabisco in the morning."

When talking about "Scandal", Rock said that Kerry Washington was great on it, but the appearance of a white President on the show also contributed to the success of the ABC series. "White people get to tune in and feel good. For one hour, it's just back to normal," he quipped.

The "Grown Ups 2" star additionally talked about Oprah Winfrey's performance in "Lee Daniels' The Butler". "Oprah Winfrey should have got an Oscar, cos that acting job was amazing cos she had to act like she was poor," he joked of the media mogul.
