Though she knew that 'it might happen one day,' the former 'View' co-host who left the show in 2013 says, 'I was shocked, in some ways.'

AceShowbiz - Elisabeth Hasselbeck has reacted to the news of Sherri Shepherd's departure from "The View". The former "Survivor" contestant, who co-hosted the ABC talk show from 2003 until 2013, said she knew it was going to happen one day, but she's still shocked.

"I was shocked, in some ways," she said on "Fox & Friends" Friday, June 27. "I'm sure. Even if you think that might happen one day, I'm sure it would come across to be a shock." She added, "I have not spoken to [Shepherd] in person yet. Set to happen, though."

Shepherd announced on Thursday that she's leaving "The View" after seven years. "It's been seven wonderful years on 'The View' and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on," she said in a statement.

She later tweeted, "Incredibly grateful to my second mom @BarbaraJWalters for pushing me beyond my comfort zone -- it's been amazing doing it scared! Life should be lived. Run towards the things that scare you. Choose joy and trust God -- everything else will work out as it should."

Jenny McCarthy, who was rumored getting fired from the show, appeared to have confirmed her exit as well. "If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters," she tweeted, adding, "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

Shepherd's manager Darris Hatch has confirmed that she and ABC were negotiating a new contract but they failed to agree on terms for a new contract. A source, meanwhile, told FOX411 that the network wouldn't renew McCarthy's contract because "Jenny just didn't appeal to the daytime audience market. They couldn't relate to her."

ABC has not commented on the two co-hosts' departure, but said, " 'The View' will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively." Words are, the show is looking for a male co-host for next season.

On the lighter side, Barbara Walters who retired last month returned to the Friday episode which was taped on Wednesday, before news of Shepherd and McCarthy's departure made headlines. She talked about her interview with Peter Rodger, the filmmaker father of Elliot Rodger, who committed a murder spree near the University of California, Santa Barbara in May. The interview will air as a special edition of "20/20" on Friday night.

"It's been a month since you've been gone. What have you been doing - besides missing us?" Shepherd asked the veteran journalist when she rejoined the panel. The 84-year-old said, "I miss not being on Hot Topics."
