The singer performed two Journey songs during a recent Eels concert at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota.

's former lead singer Steve Perry, who hadn't performed live in nearly two decades, gave fans a huge surprise last weekend. The 65-year-old musician took the stage at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, and performed for the crowd during an concert.

Eels' frontman Mark Everett told the audience that Perry hadn't performed live in years and he walked away from rock & roll in early '90s because "it didn't feel right." "And for some reason only known to him, he feels like tonight in St. Paul, Minnesota, it feels right," Everett added.

During that night's concert, Perry sang an Eels song titled "It's a Motherf**ker". "I've told Everett over and over again, 'I love that song,' " Perry told the crowd. "When I first met him, I couldn't believe it. [I said], 'Someday, I want to sing that song.' "

He then followed it up with two Journey classics "Open Arms" and "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' ".

Perry left Journey partly due to his health problems. Bandmate Neal Schon denied rumors that he kicked Perry out of the band. "He chose not to perform. He didn't want to sing with us. He didn't want to do a record. He didn't want to do anything. That was pretty much where he was at. And he wanted us to sit still and not do anything too. But we all wrote the music together, and I think we're all entitled to play it if we wish," Schon recently told Classic Rock magazine.
