Edgar Wright to Revisit 'Night Stalker' After 'Ant-Man' Exit

The adaptation of the 1970s ABC TV show of the same name is scripted by D.V. DeVincentis and planned as a starring vehicle for Johnny Depp.

What project will Edgar Wright do after he abruptly left "" due to creative differences? Deadline reports the director could step back into "", a Disney project he was developing years ago as a starring vehicle for while he was still attached to direct Marvel's comic book adaptation.

The film is based on the 1970s ABC TV show of the same title. Depp is tapped to play the lead protagonist Carl Kolchak, an intrepid tabloid journalist who was made famous by Darren McGavin. Kolchak works for the crime section of the tabloid and his cases always lead him to encounter supernatural perpetrators such as zombies, vampires, werewolves and aliens.

The script, written by D.V. DeVincentis, is reportedly in strong shape, but the production will depend on the availability of Depp. The actor has a lot of projects on his plate. He is currently filming "" and is attached to return for "" sequel "Through the Looking Glass", and "". He is also in talks to star in "".
