Salma Hayek Campaigns to Bring Back Kidnapped Nigerian Girls at Cannes

The 'Americano' actress holds up 'Bring Back Our Girls' paper sign to raise awareness for the the young girls taken hostage by Islamic extremist in Chibok.

made a political statement at the red carpet event of her new movie "" at Cannes International Film Festival this past weekend. The actress held up a paper with hashtag "Bring Back Our Girls" to support around 300 kidnapped Nigerian girls.

She joins the likes of , , , , , , , and in calling for the release of the young girls kidnaped by Islamic extremist Boko Haram from their school in Chibok.

Hayek was hot pink at the film festival. The "" star donned a Saint Laurent strapless pink frock with a bow, and pleated skirt. Raspberry lips, a black studded clutch, and Boucheron jewels complemented her look.

She was not the only one making political statement at the Cannes. Earlier, the cast of Turkish film "Winter's Sleep" carried signs with hashtag Soma to raise awareness for a tragic mining accident that killed around 300 people in the Turkish city recently.
