Lauren Shuler Donner says, 'If we make it a smaller budget movie, we can go for the R-Rating. If not, then we push the boundaries of PG-13 which is alright too.'

AceShowbiz - Deadpool movie has long been discussed, and "X-Men" producers repeatedly assured fans that the project was happening. So, what's the holdup? During "X-Men: Days of Future Past" premiere in London, Lauren Shuler Donner said they were still deciding whether to make an R-rated film on shoestring budget or "push the boundaries of PG-13."

"We so want to make it. We're getting there. I think it will, but one thing now is the rating," so she explained. "If we make it a smaller budget movie, we can go for the R-Rating. If not, then we push the boundaries of PG-13 which is alright too. We just don't want to saturate the market to the point where it's just not special anymore."

The female producer also confirmed that "Days of Future Past" which is hitting U.S. theaters on May 23 would make up for the mistakes made in the previous "X-Men" films. "Yes, it will be putting that right," she said to HeyUGuys. "Just forget about X-3! And the first Wolverine; forget about that too!"

Aside from eying a Deadpool solo film, "X-Men" producers have also expressed their desire to give more depth to Gambit and Mystique. Channing Tatum is confirmed to play the Cajun card player who is expected to be introduced in "X-Men: Apocalypse" due May 27, 2016 before getting his own solo movie in a spin-off. Taylor Kitsch previously portrayed the ladies man in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

Deadpool, meanwhile, was played by Ryan Reynolds in the first "Wolverine" solo movie, and Mystique was played by Rebecca Romijn in the first three "X-Men" installments. Jennifer Lawrence later played a younger Mystique in 2011's "X-Men: First Class" and now reprises her role in "Days of Future Past" due May 23.
