Emma Stone Discusses Gwen Stacy's Fate in 'Amazing Spider-Man' Franchise
Movie

Meanwhile, director Marc Webb talks about the true purpose of having more than one villain in the second movie.

AceShowbiz - "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has just arrived in U.S. theaters, bagging over $91 million in its opening weekend. In the second film, Gwen Stacy [SPOILER ALERT!] falls to her death during Spidey's fight with Goblin. In a chat with ScreenRant, Emma Stone recalls shooting the pivotal scene and discusses her fate in the franchise now that her character is no more.

"That was probably the most emotional part. Just because it was - I was about to fall and I also knew it was my last day and my last time working with these people," she remembers the filming. Is there any possibility of bringing her back to the franchise? "There could be a - I don't know, there's a whole plotline that could happen that may bring her back," she coyly says.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Coming Soon, director Marc Webb talks about keeping the important plot point under wraps. "We were very careful to adhere to that," he explains. "I think in this movie, we reverse engineered everything from that event."

"We knew that the Goblin had to do it, but who the Goblin was, I think we had some leeway because there was a precedent in the comics that Harry actually did turn into the Goblin, but we wanted to kind of withhold that. We knew if we just made him the only villain, the cat would've been out of the bag."

Parker's post-Gwen Stacy lover, Mary Jane Watson, was initially set be played Shailene Woodley in the second movie. She already filmed her scene, but it was eventually cut off. "There was one little scene at the beginning where she is next door and it took place right around the montage where he comes back and there was another little moment between Gwen and MJ," Webb previously opened up to Movies.com.

"But it just tipped over. The relationship between them [Peter and Gwen] is so sacred and so powerful, that it just didn't feel right. And it sucks because Shailene is such a f**king great actress and so cool and magical but it was just about having this obligation to this romance that I thought was sacred. It was just one of those things."

If Mary Jane will indeed romance Peter Parker in the future film, Webb is not sure if Woodley will be back reprising her role because she has been committed to "Divergent" sequels. "Well, 'Divergent' is a massive hit and I think it's going to be tricky for schedules," so he reasoned.

But the important thing is "will Peter Parker love again? When [relationships] end, it's very difficult to imagine emerging from that," he said. "I think that's, emotionally, where he's going to start off in the next movie."

The third film is set for June 10, 2016 release with Andrew Garfield returning as Spidey. Speaking of which villain should appear in "The Amazing Spider-Man 3", Webb told ComicBook, "Kraven. I like the idea of Kraven. The Vulture. Ock. I always thought the idea of Mysterio was interesting. Maybe Scorpion. But really, Kraven I think is kind of interesting."
