Hurwitz has signed a multi-year production deal with the streaming giant to create and produce new original series.

AceShowbiz - Netflix will continue its partnership with Mitch Hurwitz following the success of "Arrested Development" season 4 which was released via the Internet streaming media. The writer/producer has signed a multi-year deal with the company, so a rep for Netflix has confirmed.

Under the agreement, Hurwitz will create and produce new original series for the streaming giant. "We are lucky to be in business with Mitch Hurwitz, a true genius with one of the most distinctive voices in comedy today," said Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos on Tuesday, April 22. "Mitch's inventive approach to 'Arrested Development' - one of the top TV comedies of this generation - was ahead of its time, and we're fortunate to have him on our team."

Hurwitz added, "It is incredibly inspiring to get to produce for Netflix, a company that not only doesn't resist change, but is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone in forging it. The fact that I'm also getting one month of their streaming right to my TV or Xbox free... Well, it really takes the sting out of buying that Xbox."

Hurwitz described his collaboration with Netflix on the fourth season of "Arrested Development" as "the best professional experience of my life, even topping some of my favorite unprofessional experiences."

Back in July 2013, executive producer Brian Grazer said that they had been in negotiations with Netflix about a fifth season of the revived comedy. The company's CEO Reed Hastings also had expressed interest in bringing in another season of the sitcom, saying last May, "If the talent were willing to do more... I'm sure we would be willing."
