'Farscape' Creator Confirms Movie Is in the Works

Those wondering whether "" will ever get a big-screen treatment can rejoice. It has been revealed at 2014 WonderCon that a movie version is happening.

Rockne O'Bannon launched the sci-fi series for Syfy back in 1999 to great reception. It chronicled the adventures of astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder), who is hurtled to the far reaches of space via a wormhole. The show received Saturn Awards victories in addition to ranks from such platforms as Entertainment Weekly and Empire Online. After four seasons, the series was canceled due to budgeting issue and rating decline.

Words that it would be revived as a movie had swirled for sometime before O'Bannon gave a confirmation to NerdacyTV. "Yeah, it's the worst kept secret ... We're far from production, but yeah, the first step is Justin [Monjo] working on a script for us. We'll keep our fingers crossed," he was quoted as saying. Monjo was a writer and producer of the TV show. "He was like a dog with a bone," O'Bannon said about co-creator Brian Henson's effort to realize the project. "He would not give up on it."

Tor.com provided a synopsis for the movie when the rumor first started in February. "Set to follow the awesome comics written by our favorite Keith R.A. DeCandido, the film would follow John and Aeryn's son, D'Argo (or Little D, as we will always refer to him). Because their baby was exhibiting a set of interesting powers that made him a magnet for galactic villains, we find that John and Aeryn hide their son on Earth to grow up. Now the kid is 19 and ready to go into space with his parents," the synopsis allegedly read.
