Robert Pattinson's film will compete for the coveted Palme d'Or prize along with Kristen Stewart's movie and Channing Tatum's flick which also stars Steve Carell.

Cannes Film Festival announces official selections for the upcoming 67th annual event. David Cronenberg's satire drama "Maps to the Stars" starring Robert Pattinson, Olivier Assayas' drama "Clouds of Sils Maria" starring Kristen Stewart, and Bennett Miller's true-story pic "Foxcatcher" starring Channing Tatum and Steve Carell are among the competition lineup.

Also competing for Palme d'Or are a thriller "The Captive" led by Ryan Reynolds, Tommy Lee Jones' western drama "The Homesman" that features Meryl Streep and Hilary Swank, and a movie about British painter J. M. W. Turner called "Mr. Turner" as well as a biopic of French designer Yves Saint Laurent titled "Saint Laurent".

The festival will be held from May 14 to May 25. It will open with "Grace of Monaco" which stars Nicole Kidman as actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly. In Out of Competition lineup, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is joined by Chinese movie "Coming Home" and France film "Les Gens du Monde".

Another Pattinson movie, "The Rover", is listed for Midnight Screening along with "The Salvation" from Denmark and "The Target" from South Korea. In "The Rover", Eric (Guy Pearce) sets off on a hunt to find a gang of dangerous criminals who robbed his last possession.

2014 Cannes jury panel is headed by director Jane Campion. She is the first and only woman to have won the Palme d'Or, thanks to her brilliant work in "The Piano" in 1993. This year, Japanese director Naomi Kawase and Italian director Alice Rohrwacher are the two female finalists. They are recognized for their film "Deux Fenetres" and "La Merveille" respectively.

Approximately 1800 films are submitted to the Cannes this year. Complete list of the movies making to the final list can be found on the official website.
