Chris Evans Approves of Michael B. Jordan Playing Johnny Storm in 'Fantastic Four'

April 2, 2014, 6:09 am GMT

The former Human Torch depicter who now portrays Captain America says the 'Fruitvale Station' star is a perfect choice to assume the role in the remake.

Chris Evans passes the Human Torch to Michael B. Jordan. The former "Fantastic Four" actor who now plays Captain America fully supports the "Fruitvale Station" star to play Johnny Storm in the reboot. "The Torch has been passed! #FlameOn," Jordan captioned a picture that showed them smiling widely while posing together for the camera.

"It's so funny, you almost feel precious over the role that you don't want someone else to do it. But when you hear someone phenomenal is doing it, it's very exciting like you almost can't wait...," Evans told New York Daily News in a recent press junket for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

"I couldn't even give that guy any advice if I wanted, that guy is so good... It's exciting to see what he's going to do, because I know he's going to reinvent it in a way that I could never have imagined... It's almost like we're sharing, the character is ours. I feel like I'm connected with him in a way. It's a nice feeling."

Fans are divided in their reactions regarding the new cast of "The Fantastic Four" which is directed by Josh Trank. Miles Teller is tapped as the rubber man a.k.a. Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm or Invisible Woman, and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm or The Thing. The villain will be portrayed by "War Horse" star Toby Kebbell.

Simon Kinberg contributes to the scriptwriting, while his co-writer in "X-Men: Days of Future Past", Matthew Vaughn, serves as a producer. The story is still unclear, but rumor suggests the movie will focus on the superheroes in their younger years. It will open June 19, 2015 in the U.S., followed by a sequel on July 14, 2017.
