Gregg Allman Misses The Allman Brothers Band's Shows Due to Bronchitis

According to his manager, the 66-year-old singer's health has improved and he plans to return for his group's final shows at the Beacon Theatre next week.

missed two of 's shows at New York's Beacon Theatre this weekend. The veteran musician was forced to scrap his scheduled appearances during the Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 shows due to bronchitis.

Despite Allman's absence, the shows continued as planned with Kofi Burbridge of Tedeschi Trucks band and Rob Barraco of Dark Star Orchestra filling in for the singer. The band was also joined by special guests Susan Tedeschi, Junior Mack and Devon Allman among others.

The Allman Brothers Band's celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. Their annual concerts at the Beacon Theatre began on March 7 and will conclude on March 29. Allman's manager Michael Lehman told Associated Press that the 66-year-old star's health had improved and he planned to return for his group's final four shows next week.

Lehman also said that Allman was in good shape until he got bronchitis. The musician had several health issues in the past, including a liver transplant in 2010 and back problems.
