'Mad Men' Debuts New Airplane-Themed Teaser for Final Season

March 20, 2014, 3:09 am GMT

Betty, Peggy, Megan, Joan and others are ready to depart in style in this promo set at an airport.

AMC teases "Mad Men" fans with another airplane-themed promo for the seventh and final season. Still not revealing the storyline, the video shows the main characters, including Don Draper and wife Megan, Peggy Olson, Joan Harris, Betty Francis, Pete Campbell as well as Roger Sterling in various places around an airport.

The ladies, in particular, are dressed in '70s-inspired fashion as they're ready to aboard a plane. The video ends with a glimpse of Don standing on the door of a plane as he's going to descend the stairs, and features a tagline, "It's all up in the air."

Despite the prominent airplane imagery in other promo videos and photos, series creator Matthew Weiner has said it has nothing to do with the show's theme. "I don't want to disappoint any attempts to read into any meaning for the show but we pick a milieu for the publicity photography every year where we can lean on the good looks of the cast and place them in an environment that puts people in the mood for the show," he said earlier this month.

"We love the contrast because there is zero glamor in air travel right now. It was just an environment to take pictures," he added, "We've done debutante parties, bar scenes, office scenes, we've done abstract a couple times. Frank Ockenfels shot them. To me, it's pretty glamorous -- but it is not related to the show."

The final season is split into two parts consisting of seven episodes each. The first part dubbed "The Beginning" will premiere Sunday, April 13 at 9/8c on AMC, while the second half called "The End of an Era" is slated to air in 2015.

"It is one story running across," Weiner recently told Vulture. "Much of what is set up in the first seven episodes is paid off in the last seven as we do traditionally, but the stories are denser and the first seven episodes are their own arc."
