AceShowbiz - Chinese authorities apparently think that The Rolling Stones' songs called "Honky Tonk Women" and "Brown Sugar" are inappropriate. The legendary band was forced to remove the two songs from their set list when they brought their tour to Shanghai's Mercedes-Benz Arena on Wednesday, March 12.
According to a posting on the band's official Twitter feed, frontman Mick Jagger told the crowd during the show, "About now we'd usually play something like 'Honky Tonk Women', we played it last time we were here in 2006, but it's been vetoed..."
Contrary to Jagger's comment, the band did not perform "Honky Tonk Women" when they first played in China in 2006. The song, along with "Brown Sugar", "Beast of Burden", "Lets Spend the Night Together" and "Rough Justice", was banned by the authorities.
During the Wednesday concert, the band replaced the axed songs with two tracks titled "Sticky Fingers" and "Street Fighting".
Next week, The Rolling Stones will kick off the Australian leg of their tour in Perth. They'll play arena concerts in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne later this month before heading to Brisbane in early April.
