Wes Anderson Wants to Make Movie in Outer Space

The 'Grand Budapest Hotel' director also wishes he could write roles for William Powell, Barbara Stanwyck, Clark Gable and Chester Morris.

On heels of the premiere of his new movie "", Wes Anderson sits down for an interview with Vanity Fair. The Oscar-nominated director reveals some of his dream movies that include filming a movie in outer space.

"I would like to try to make a movie on location in space or on a nearby planet," the helmer says, before jokingly adding, "I expect we'd end up somewhere with a good tax incentive at the end of the day."

If he could bring some Hollywood veterans back from the dead, he would write roles for William Powell, Barbara Stanwyck, Clark Gable, and Chester Morris, who once starred in the 1940s Boston Blackie detective series.

"Grand Budapest Hotel" made its world debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) festival before making its way to only four limited theaters over the weekend. The movie collected approximately $800,000, averaging $200,000 from each location.

It breaks record for the highest average for a live-action film, besting Paul Thomas Anderson's "" ($147,262 location average). Wes Anderson's previous movie "", meanwhile, posted an opening weekend average of $130,752 in May the same year.

"Grand Budapest Hotel" boasts a star-studded cast like , , , , , , , , , and . The film is expected to get expanded into 65 to 75 theaters next week.

It follows the story of the Grand Budapest's devoted concierge, Gustave, who teams up with his protege to prove his innocence after he is framed for the murder of one of the hotel's guests.
