Oscars 2014: Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong'o and Jennifer Lawrence Dazzle on Red Carpet
Giuliana Rancic, Ryan Seacrest, Kelly Osbourne and Olympic figure skaters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski were among the early stars to arrive at the 86th Annual Academy Awards. They were on duty to cover the red carpet fashion for such media outlets as E! and Access Hollywood.
Braving the rain, Rancic held an umbrella as she posed for photographs in a Paolo Sebastian dress. The E! Fashion Police correspondent will share the task with Seacrest, who was wearing a white tuxedo, and Osbourne who was pretty in a white Badgley Mischka dress. Weir and Lipinski, who were doing live reports for Access Hollywood, strolled through the wet carpet in matching white outfits. She was wearing a Rani Zakhem gown while he was rocking a Custom vintage "pot luck" leather suit.
The movie stars started to arrive after the rain died down. Idina Menzel, who was slated to perform nominated song from "Frozen (2013)", went with a Vera Wang gown. Pharrell Williams, who was also a performer of the night, arrived without the hat but did not go exactly formal either. He was wearing a classic tuxedo as top and a pair of black shorts and shoes sans the socks.
Supporting actress nominee Lupita Nyong'o went pretty feminine in a flowing Prada gown which was topped with a white head band. "It's a blue that reminded me of Nairobi," she said of the gown that was custom made for her. Anna Kendrick walked the red carpet in a black J Mendel gown slit on the side while Naomi Watts oozed elegance in a fitting white Calvin Klein Collection by Fransisco Costa.
Jared Leto let the hair go and rocked a white tuxedo that looked similar to Seacrest's, only his bow tie was red. "I always like the old-school vibe," Leto told Seacrest about not choosing black tux. Pregnant Olivia Wilde rocked the baby bump in a black Valentino gown, posing with fiance Jason Sudeikis who looked scruffy with his beard grown. Amy Adams went with dark blue in a Gucci gown. "It felt like me and that doesn't always happen," she said.
Portia De Rossi stunned in Naeem Khan ivory honeycomb-beaded halter gown which flattered her svelte figure. She was there to support wife Ellen DeGeneres who was due to host the big ceremony inside. Sally Hawkins, who was nominated for supporting actress, went with long-sleeved studded Valentino gown. Her "Blue Jasmine" co-star Cate Blanchett went with even bigger studs in a Georgio Armani dress. "It's heavy but I love it," she said.
Wrapped in white tuxedo, Matthew McConaughey brought two of the most important women in his life, his mom Mary and his wife Camila Alves. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence had a little accident with her fashion choice on the red carpet. While waving to fans on the side, she did not see the person in front of her and fell when bumping. A security guard was helping her up while she giggled. She was in a red peplum dress by Dior, to which she is the new face.
