AceShowbiz - Another affair may rock the First Family on "Scandal". As Olivia tries to put to rest the rumors that she was Fitz's mistress, Mellie's relationship with Andrew could reach new heights, forcing Olivia to tell the First Lady to stop whatever has happened between her and the Governor.
In a sneak peek for the next episode of the Shonda Rhimes-created drama series, a narrator hints that a dirty little secret may bring down the Republic. Meanwhile, Olivia warns someone that her father is out for blood.
"We Do Not Touch the First Ladies" airs Thursday, March 6 at 10/9c on ABC. According to the official synopsis, "old feelings and jealousies arise at a Presidential event causing Fitz to face a harsh reality. Meanwhile, Quinn tries to prove herself to B613 and Leo Bergen sets up a meeting between Sally and an old friend."
Speaking about her character having a potential love interest, Bellamy Young tells TVLine, "It's kind of nice, right? Somebody being nice to Mellie... It feels weird. But it feels good. I can't say it's a bad thing." She adds, "It's certainly startling and definitely moving to have someone look at you with their whole heart and open eyes. It's a game changer."
On how this will affect Mellie, the actress reveals to TV Guide, "It's instantaneously transformative to be shown that gentle, loving kindness and open-hearted energy. It melts her. How hard she tries to keep her facade together is what the interesting fight is going to be going forward. Can she allow herself to be even regarded kindly much less adored? Or has that ship sailed and she has chosen her career and the life she's in now?"
Young also teases that next week's episode will reveal more about Andrew's past with Mellie. "I can tell you that you're going to enjoy next week's episode, because you will get a lot more information not just about me and Andrew but also about Andrew in general," she says.
