2014 Satellite Awards Handed '12 Years a Slave' Top Movie Honor

Over in the television world, 'Breaking Bad' was named Best Drama Series along with acting nods for cast Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

"" continued its streak of victory this awards season with Best Motion Picture nod at the 18th Annual Satellite Awards. The pic's Steve McQueen nabbed Best Director but lost the Best Supporting Actress category to "" star .

and each won the acting categories for their roles in "" and "" respectively. "" won Best Original Screenplay through David O. Russell and Eric Singer, and Best Film Editing.

Over in the television categories, AMC's "" was named Best Drama while "" took the Best Comedy nod. , , , and won acting prizes.

The Satellite Awards were presented by IPA, which is composed of international journalists. The winners were announced in a gala ceremony on Sunday, February 23.
