The 'Twilight Saga' actor will take over the lead role in the second season of the British series.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Lautner will headline a comedy series. The Jacob Black of the "Twilight" movie series has been cast in the lead role for the second season of BBC sitcom "Cuckoo", filling Andy Samberg's shoes.

The hunky actor, who just turned 22 on February 11, will replace Samberg, who now stars on FOX's hit sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", as the title character, a mysterious young stranger who shows up in Lichfield, Staffordshire, where the show is based.

According to The Guardian, the second installment "is set two years after the hippy guy disappeared while researching a book in the Himalayas, leaving his wife Rachel (Tamla Kari) to forge a new life. Her parents Ken (Greg Davies) and Lorna (Helen Baxendale) and brother Dylan (Tyger Drew-Honey) are getting their lives back to normal when Lautner's character shows up."

BBC3 controller Zai Bennett said of Lautner's casting, " 'Cuckoo' was one of BBC3's most stand-out comedies, so I'm delighted to welcome it back with the addition of superstar Taylor Lautner joining the critically acclaimed Greg Davies and an outstanding British comedy cast for what will be one of the comedy treats of the year."

Executive producer Ash Atalla added, " 'Cuckoo' is one of my favorite shows I've ever been involved in. We can't wait to come back bigger and better."

The gig marks Lautner's first regular TV role since he starred on NBC's short-lived drama "My Own Worst Enemy", which also featured Christian Slater. After wrapping up the "Twilight" movies, he took a role in Adam Sandler's comedy film "Grown Ups 2" and will next be seen in action movie "Tracers".
