OWN Developing First Original TV Movie Based on Darlene Love's Memoir

Oprah Winfrey will executive produce the scripted project focusing on singer Love, who was recently featured in documentary 'Twenty Feet From Stardom'.

After teaming up with for its first scripted series, OWN is now planning to make its first original TV movie. The network has acquired the rights to Darlene Love's memoir "My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story" to be adapted into the telepic.

The scripted project will be executive produced by OWN's CEO , filmmaker Morgan Neville as well as Love herself. The 72-year-old singer recently appeared in documentary "", which was directed by Neville and will air on OWN starting in 2015.

"The fantastic life journey of music great Darlene Love is the perfect choice for our first original scripted movie," says OWN's president Sheri Salata. "There are a handful of stories brought to the screen of daring American women who walked through fire and back to make their dreams come true and Darlene is one of the heroes on that list."

She continues, "From her first hit song to her darkest days cleaning houses in Beverly Hills to make ends meet, to the triumphant comeback that made rock and roll history, Darlene is a true living legend who worked with many of the greatest talents in music from and to , and ."

Love rose to prominence in the 1960s for the song "He's a Rebel". With her powerful voice, she sang backup for acts that included , and Sonny & . She also sang "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" which was included in Phil Spector's 1963 holiday compilation album.
