John Legend, Alicia Keys, Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder are also among performers at the event to celebrate 50 years since The Beatles' first performed on U.S. television.

AceShowbiz - The Beatles performed on U.S. television for the first time on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on February 9, 1964. Fifty years later, several big names in today's music honored the iconic British band by performing some of their hit songs on "The Beatles: The Night That Changed America - A Grammy Salute".

Maroon 5 kicked off the tribute night with the live performance of "All My Loving" and "Ticket to Ride". Katy Perry then sang "Yesterday" in front of a flowery background, while her beau John Mayer performed "Don't Let Me Down" with Keith Urban.

John Legend appeared onstage with Alicia Keys to sing "Let It Be". Other performers included Ed Sheeran, Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisley, Pharrell Williams and Dave Grohl.

Two surviving members of The Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, also performed at the event. The "New" singer sang "Birthday", "Get Back" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Meanwhile, Starr performed "Matchbox", "Boys" and led a sing-along with "Yellow Submarine".

The two British musicians recently paid a visit to New York's Ed Sullivan Theater, the building where they performed in the country for the first time 50 years ago, and were even given a personal tour by David Letterman whose talk show is aired from the iconic venue.

Starr told Letterman, "I'm so excited coming back... I've been back hundreds doing the shows with you... But now I'm here, I'm looking out the window... We're back on this stage again. The memory I have was it was four times bigger [back then] - we thought there was thousands of them [audience members]."

McCartney added, "It's like going back to your old school isn't it...? It looks little now but we thought it was huge."
