Zac Efron Confirms He's in Talks for 'Star Wars Episode 7'

The former 'High School Musical' hunk spills that he did meet with Disney executives to discuss the J.J. Abrams-directed movie.

is one of the hopefuls eying to land a role in the hotly-anticipated "Star Wars Episode 7". In a recent interview with MTV to promote his new movie "", he confirmed he went to a meeting with Disney to talk about the project.

"Yeah, I just went and met with them (Disney executives)," the former Disney actor said when the topic came up during "most likely to..." game with MTV's Josh Horowitz. "So I don't know. It would be cool. I love the Star Wars movies I love them, but who knows?"

Another former Disney star among the rumored candidates was . Efron's "Awkward Moment" co-star also confirmed he auditioned for "Star Wars" and so did who said, "I just auditioned for it, like everyone else did."

Most recently, "" actor became the hotly-tipped contender for a role in the movie. "Episode 7", directed by J.J. Abrams, is slated to hit theatres on December 18, 2015. Two sequels are set to follow for 2017 and 2019 releases respectively.

No official cast members have been announced, but , and are expected to reprise their roles as the classic "Star Wars" trio, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia.
